With a primary consideration to provide comprehensive drug coverage for patients, the Formulary was evaluated in all therapeutic categories and contains those agents that offer the greatest value in each class. Provider's utilization of the AAHP Drug Formulary ensures our member's pharmaceutical needs are met in a high quality, cost-effective manner. Formulary development and maintenance is a dynamic process and is subject to periodic changes.

Note on seasonal flu medicine: Tamiflu® is available through community pharmacies without prior authorization for children less than 6 years old and for 6-18 year olds with current prescriptions for asthma inhalers.
The AAHP Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
Purpose and Goals:
The AAHP Pharmacy and Therapeutic (P & T) Committee consists of physicians, pharmacists, and other professionals representing various medical specialties, whose primary purpose is to develop and monitor the AAHP Drug Formulary and to establish programs and procedures to ensure high quality, cost-effective drug therapy. The AAHP P & T regularly reviews new and existing medications to ensure the Formulary meets the needs of both members and providers.
